The Richmond Review Interviews Ms. Ogden
The Richmond Review (B.C.) has an interview with Ms. Ogden on the occasion of the 25 anniversary of the dance school she trained at, the Richmond Academy of Dance. Here’s a quote:
“The Richmond Academy of Dance was my second home growing up. I probably took at least 10 ballet classes a week and I loved it. I met so many of my friends through dancing at Richmond Academy, many of whom I am still close with today, 13 years later! I loved that I was able to go to a local dance school and receive first rate professional training that led me to the career of my dreams.”
The Review also has a story about the Academy, which is celebrating the anniversary with a gala on May 24. One of Ms. Ogden’s main teachers, Annette Jakubowski, is featured in this story, reminiscing about how she and her co-artistic director Heather Joosten-Fair started the school to meet a strong need for ballet training in B.C.

Evelyn Hart to mentor Ms. Ogden
The National Arts Centre has announced that legendary Canadian dancer Evelyn Hart has chosen to mentor Ms. Ogden as part of the 2011 Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards Mentorship Program. This program allows past winners of the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards to contribute to the development of younger artists. The program is intended to contribute to the development of “talented mid-career artists.” Ms. Hart is quoted as saying:
“Having the support of a peer who had been there before was of immeasurable assistance and greatly enriched my career. I hope that through this Mentorship Program, Heather Ogden—with all her talent and accomplishments—will dare to go where only her heart and soul can lead her. I’m delighted that Heather will enrich the lives of Canadians through her unique eyes and art.”

Interview with Ms. Ogden
Ms. Ogden is one of “30 under 30” in the Richmond Review. Her hometown newspaper has a series of interviews with people who have achieved great success while still less than 30 years old. The interview is here. The interview includes Ms. Ogden’s advice to young dancers:
“Advice: “It just takes a lot of perseverance and determination. There’s a lot of young girls out there who would love to be a ballerina, I know that. Not everyone gets to have that dream and I think it’s a show of how hard you work.”
